New maps are listed in the monthly catalog, "New Publications of the U.S. Geological Survey".
These sources are available at Earth Science Information Center offices, in United States Geological Survey (USGS) libraries, and may be avaiable at other earth science libraries, such as those of universities.
Information Content
MR-Series maps contain information on the location of mineral occurrences, mineral resources, mines and prospects, commodities (other than organic fuels) and their distribution, and target areas with resource potential. The maps typically are of small scale (1:250,000 or smaller) and show little geology. Many maps cover very large areas such as Alaska or the conterminous United States.
